Happy Gokmase?

Just posting an update for Gokmase.. I'm still alive!

Why do I have a blog?

Man I'm not good at updating this thing.

Well.. AtariForge is still fucked up. Registerfly has screwed up a bunch of domain renewals.. like sparemint.org. ASSHOLES have not fixed it since December.

Anyways.. a small update.

atariforge.org

Well.. the the PostgreSQL error was fixed and now GForge AS has been installed and is running. But.. one issue with new project mail. It's not sent.. but all other mail is. Looking to it.

Go check out atariforge.org!

Rob

Update - I got a response from GForge Group. They are aware of the error in the code and haven't released a fix for the Project mail yet.

Updates

Well, I finally moved AUN over to the new server. It was overdue! Mail is almost setup and ready to move also, I just have some settings left on Mailman and start moving the mailing list and I should be ready.

New theme for AUN also.. love to hear comments on the theme. Besides issues with HighWire. HighWire still doesn't display background images.. so the site won't look perfect on it. But when I viewed it was't bad looking.

AtariForge.. what a headache. I have the license for the Gforge Active Server from the Gforge Group. Problem is with the virtual servers we run. For some reason, PostgreSQL doesn't work on OpenVZ(.org) which we use to run multiply servers. AUN is on one.. Atariforge another.. Atarinews.org yet another, etc. Actually We have 5 virtual servers running right now, with 2 more down the road. Back to Gforge.. it requires.. you guessed it.. PostgreSQL! So until the issue is resolved with PostgreSQl, AtariForge is on hold.

A-ONE site and more

I just finished changing over the A-ONE website. It's been ages since it was updated.. I know! I tried to make a nice simple site that's easy to navigate but still looks good. It was designed to work with HighWire and PC/linux/mac browsers. Sorry CrAB users!

Still working on the new AtariForge site while learning php in the process. I have a simple user system 90% working, issue with cookies I have to fix. One I get that working, I'll try making a project system with admin. THAT will be a tough one.

During the week, I hope to move the AUN site over to the new server while upgrading postnuke. To be honest, I'd like to switch from postnuke. But finding a good CMS that works with HighWire is tough, most use java/ajax code now. I think and an Atari news site needs to be viewable on an Atari browser! The other issue is saving the huge record of news post that I find nice to search through.

A little update on the moving progress

Well, the HighWire site is now running on the AtariForge server. The bugtracker is also updated to the latest version of Mantis. I just have to add the page counter script to the server and all it working for the HighWire site. I might update the header and footer to mach the HighWire site. The new HighWire wiki is also installed and running. We just need to add start adding the HighWire documentation.

Debating what to do with the current AtariForge site.

I've been working on a new layout/system for the site. It's is currently usable, a very basic setup using text files the hosted project will host in it's subdomain. The text files will be displayed on the projects information page.

It's using css to create a nice look to the site. The new site looks ok in HighWire, CrAB looks like crap due to no css support. When HighWire supports background images, things will look perfect.

New Server

Well, things are going well with the new server. AtariForge is now running on it's new virtual server with no issues. AtariForums.com is on my personal virtual server, as is this blog.

Just waiting on the dedicated virtual mail server before moving AUN.

The server response seems MUCH faster than the old one.. I'm lovin it!

New Server

Good news, the new server is at the co-location host and online!

Hopefully this weekend we can start moving over to it.

Update on new server

The replacement drive has been installed. Everything is running fine. Just waiting for the information on shipping the server. Hopefully I'll have the info on Monday the 13th

Then the fun starts.. MOVING!

I made few changes to the AtariForge.org theme tonight. If anyone has a display issue, let me know via the contact form to the left or on AtariForge.

AtariForums.Com was also updated to the latest Phorum version. Site response seems quicker than the old version. The new RSS feeds are a nice feature also.

Gokmase also did a nice update to the XaAES site, including making the AtariForums XaAES section blend into the site.

Check it out at http://xaaes.atariforge.net

The new baby is here!

The new server arrived Monday. I installed all the components and the OS (CentOS.org) and had it up and running in no time. This thing is going to be sweet when it's on the 100MB conection. It's a rack server.. so this baby is LOUD! It like being in a jet, sounds almost the same. I think the fans are over 10k RPMS each.

While booting up the system the next day, I had kernel panic errors. Oh no.. what's wrong??
Then I noticed a clicking sound over the the noise from the fans. It was a hard drive.

The bad news.. the box the hard drives shipped in was crushed on one side. I didn't notice that one of the drives was damaged. It has a small dent on it and the drive is dead.

It's been sent back for replacement. So, this will push things back about a week while I wait for the new replacement drive. (3 days back to retailer.. 2-3 days to inspect the drive.. then 3 day to ship a replacement back) At least I get to spend some quality time with the server
